Decision:

Following a Procurement exercise the appointment of Gatenby Sanderson to assist in the recruitment of a new Joint Chief Executive Officer for the two Councils. The cost for the service is £14,750 plus VAT plus advertising costs.

To approve the revised Job Description and Person Specification for the Joint Chief Exexutive role.

Reasons for the decision:

To ensure that suitable professional assistance is given to the two Councils during the recruitment process.

To ensure that the Job Description and Person Specification are up to date at the point of advertisement.

Alternative options considered:

To run the process using internal sources.

This was rejected. This is the most senior post in the Strategic Alliance and fundamental to the future direction of the Strategic Alliance and the two Councils. The engagement of a suitable consultant will mean the role will reach a wider audience leading to a better likelihood of securing the right candidate.

A procedure exercise was run with four tenderers being evaluated on the basis of quality and cost at the end of the process. Gatenby Sanderson came top in the evaluation.
