Purchase of 1 No cyclinder grinding machine at £20,794, funded by way of the Transport Team's revenue budget for replacement of plant and equipment.

Quotations were received in accordance with Council financial requirements and offer the most economically advantageous solution.

The Transport team's current cylinder grinder has been in use for 30 years and now requires replacing due to essential control device items being obsolete.

The machine is utilised in the maintenance of horticultural and agricultural grass cutting equipment and further to undertaking joint working with Bolsover District Council, demand has doubled on the equipment which lacks precision and performance of new technology.

The replacement machine offers a 50% reduction in cylinder grind turn round time and offers improved efficiency in the fleet maintenance service.

Essential parts and support for the current machine is obstructed due to being obsolete. This now presents health and safety concerns due to the manufacturer being unable to support key features of the machine.

Maintenance of the current machine is not a viable option due to its age and being obsolete; hence, replacement being procured.
