Decision:

To Allow the Joint ICT service to appoint to an additional 18-month fixed Service Desk Trainee Technician Post to assist with some of the additional project work required to implement part of the cyber treatment plan created by DHLUC cyber consultancy.

This post will be funded by utilising some of £75,000 funding provided by DHLUC to implement parts of the plan across the three authorities. It is estimated the trainee post will cost no more than £45k dependent on age. Specified training will be funded from the cyber fund.

Reasons for the decision:

The 18-month fixed term trainee post will assist the ICT service in delivering parts of the cyber treatment plan.

Alternative options considered:

Advertise fixed term post for an experienced Servicedesk technician has been rejected as we have been unable to fill the post. We are hoping a trainee position will be more attractive to suitable candidates who are not experienced but have the aptitude to learn and succeed.
