To extend the existing maintenance contract
for the Telephony systems used by BDC and NEDDC with the existing
supplier 4Site for a further 12 months.
The authority currently contracted the current
maintenance supplier 4site to complete some work to move the
telephony to SIP which is partially complete. Completion of this
work has been delayed due to external factors. It would not be in
the interest of the council to renew the maintenance with another
supplier as it could prevent them finishing the work which has
already been paid for and
Tendering may result in a better deal for the council, however any
gains would likely be minimal due to the need to pay the new
supplier to do work which has already been contracted to the
current supplier. Introducing a new supplier at this moment could
have a negative impact on maintaining the Council’s telephony
and delay the SIP migration further which would incur reduce
savings to be made and could put the Council’s Telephony at
risk.
Service from the current supplier has always been
exceptional.
Retendering would put the Council’s
telephony at risk and may result in additional costs to the
Council, because it would have to pay for additional consultancy
and delays in making savings.
