APPOINTMENT OF TWO AGENCY WORKERS FOR UP TO FOUR WEEKS TO PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO THE PLANNING POLICY TEAM

Decision Maker: Managing Director

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

To appoint two agency workers for up to four weeks to provide essential administrative support to the Planning Policy Team.

Reasons for the decision:

Recent consultation on the Local Plan has generated approx. 700 detailed responses which is significantly more than anticipated.

The information requires inputting to a database and is an administrative task.

The Planning Policy Team does not have designated administrative support and there are vacancies within the team at the junior level, which will be addressed through the implementation of the shared service arrangements with Bolsover District Council.

However, in the interim there is a need to secure additional resource to undertake administrative tasks, which are crucial to meeting the adopted Local Plan timetable.

Alternative options considered:

To not appoint - this option was rejected on the basis that it would significantly delay the timetable for the preparation of the Local Plan which is a key corporate priority.

To utilise principal officers to undertake administrative work - this option does not represent value for money, and would divert profressional resources away from other key work streams that are crucial to meeting the Local Plan Timetable.
