Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

To create an established:

1) 5 hour gymnastics coach at Killamarsh Active to meet the increased demand for gymnastics lessons

Reasons for the decision:

To create new 5 hour contracted post to meet the current and future demands on the gymnastics programme.

Current lesson programme is running at 90% capacity with a beginner waiting list of 50 children

These costs will be covered by the increased income as set out in the attached briefing note.

Costs of the post (inc. on-costs) would be £4,277.00 /year (this is the revised 25/26 rate following the pay award)

Forecast annual income based on 5x new classes at 80% occupancy = £19,108.00

Recruitment to be undertaken once approved and implementation expected from September/October 2025. The post initially will be covered through a short term temporary contract or casual cover which we expect to move to a permanent post within 3 months.

This will be contained from within existing pay budgets.

The post will play a pivotal role in enhancing customer satisfaction by delivering an improved gymnastics programme, while also contributing to the continuous improvement and sustainability of our high-performing services for younger people. In doing so, it will directly support the achievement of key targets outlined in both our corporate and service plans

Contributes To the Council Plan:
• A community with lifelong good health
• A place where people enjoy spending time
• Promoting healthy lifestyles, helping to reduce risk of ill health and early death from major diseases like cancer, heart disease, stroke, respiratory illness and diabetes.
• Provide an accessible and inclusive programme of activities for residents.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative would be to not fill the post and lose the forecast income and participation
