To buy back 9 Westwood Road, Calow which was
sold to the current owner through the right to buy scheme. The
independent RICS valuation is £190,000 and will be purchased
at the valuation price less £15,580 discount which is to be
paid back.
The Council’s Housing Needs assessment
showed from the waiting list data, bidding trends, projected
population that there is a housing need and demand for 3 bedroom
social housing properties in the ward. It also showed there is only
a small number of 3 bedroom properties owned by the Council in
Calow. This means that local people may find it difficult to secure
council accommodation.
Purchasing a 3 bedroom property would help to alleviate housing
need and also increase the Council’s housing stock to benefit
the district.
Not to progress the purchase of the property
has been rejected.
This will not support the local social housing need if not
purchased.
