Decision:

Approval is granted to contract the PK Group Ltd to carry out refurbishment of the communal WCs at Southgate Shops, Eckington S21 4FT and the sum of £24,480.17 is allocated from the Asset Refurbishment Budget within the Capital Programme.

Reasons for the decision:

The condition of the communal WCs located within Southgate Shops, Eckington have deteriorated to the extent that urgent refurbishment works are required to bring them back to an acceptable serviceable and hygienic standard. Such works shall ensure compliance with the Workplace Health Safety and Welfare Regulations 1992 (Regulation 20 Sanitary Conveniences), providing facilities which meet the required standards:-

1. Suitable and sufficient conveniences shall be provided at readily accessible places.

2. Without prejudice to the generality of paragraph (1), sanitary conveniences shall not be suitable unless:-
(a) the rooms containing them are adequately ventilated and lit;
(b) they and the rooms containing them are kept in a clean and orderly condition.
